Furchgott's recent work brings together influences from East and West, ancient and modern traditions. The eye jumps between flat shape and rendered 3-dimensional form. Bold brushwork and passages of saturated Fauvist color are juxtaposed with the subtler harmonies and decorative patterning of Persian miniature painting. This mature work achieves a new level of richness and complexity.
