NEW WORK:
Still Life

Furchgott approaches her work as fundamentally abstract compositions of positive and negative shapes, areas of color, and markmaking. Still lifes present a certain visual purity because they can be created and viewed with fewer layers of preconception than can figurative work. These works create visual tension by juxtaposing flat shapes with three-dimensionally rendered form, and express her love of intense color and of pattern.
